Wood Pellet Boilers
Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Scheme
On 10 March 2011, the Government announced the details of the Renewable Heat Incentive policy to revolutionise the way heat is generated and used in buildings and homes. This is the first financial support scheme for renewable heat of its kind in the world.
At a time when we can see many problems with relying on a rapidly changing world and continuous reliance on oil and gas, we are proposing to put in place a key foundation stone of our energy future where both carbon reduction and energy security are assured.
Wood Pellet Boilers are a key part in this scheme.
For cost comparison v’s Oil
2 tonne of Pellet gives the same heat output as 1,000 litres of Oil so;
2 tonne: 1000 litres
Pellet £190/tonne versus Oil: £0.65/litre, therefore
If one used 3,000 litres of oil per year – they would now use 6 tonne of pellet in a year if they switched to pellets
3000 x 0.65 = £1,950
6 tonne @ £190/tonne = £1,140
Saving £810! p.a
The Renewable Heat Incentive has been launched in the UK and will come into effect in NI in Nov 2011. (details to be announced later this year) by Department of Energy and Climate Change.
In GB it amounts to people getting FREE Heat for 20 years. It is guaranteed by the Government and the scheme lasts for 20 years. Any boilers installed since July 2009 qualify.
